Historian Frank,
It was a very manly fictional argument you made, as this one is that does not include real people. If I were to respond to a "Real Man" and not a fictional character, I may have more words to explain an entire "fictional story". But since I am not speaking with a real man, I will choose to support the rehired Varsity Coach and hope he will provide a great direction for the youth of Waukegan.
Just in case you decide to be a man in the real world,not this dreamed up fictional character, I always leave my number for a phone call to discuss.

Yeah, Im kinda happy too. He's good ppl. I just hope he doesnt put us down anymore when we try so hard for him and our school. sounds like he really liked u swright11 and u had his best attitude when he was an assistant and not a head coach. I hope we can play all our games this year too cuz we didnt last year. we want to play our makeup games like the other schools had the chance to do and play as many as they did. we should have the same opportunity as they do. also. i wonder if we are gonna go to ohio or florida like gurnee and zion do and like we used to do at the beginning of our season like with shane. that could be fun for us and could allow us to bond more as a team.
well like i said, i like coach. I hope he treats us minorities better like coach z does. I dont want to be sad when we play ball. i want to be happy. suposably someone the school board said its not just about wins and losses. he is right. its also about being treated with respect and dignity. its also about being taught the game. and winning would be good too. i know he had a lot of support from people from waukegan but i hope he gets people who don't live in the perfect neighborhoods of waukegan to support him too. Im glad that some of the board members have our back and are concerned with us kids whose parents arent buddies with coach and who need a helping hand. I hope coach does better and i want him to change people's minds. thank you.

I hope you can understand the reason I called this man into question. I saw what I thought to be an unexcusable act against some wonderful young ladies that have played both for me and/or WGSA. I promise you I would always be there to fight an unpopular fight on your behalf. There was some very telling arguments made by some parents. The kids expected worse than what I described at the meeting. I felt sick by some of the things I heard that was said. It is really the youth that I have in mind, not some good people that can accuse me for being disgusting without having known the entire story. I am completely okay with that because I am not, nor have never been, concerned about what other people think of me.
We now need to move on from our past issues, as this is the man entrusted by our school district to lead the way.
Coach is a better coach than I am. I will not dispute that. He has 8800 reasons of why he should be, paid for by your family and the rest of Waukegan. I sincerely hope you will have a great experience for the remainder of your High School years.
I am going to remain here and get kicked around a bit more by some very disgruntled people. It is for the cocoadimples of the world why I make my voice heard. Good luck young lady, Waukegan wishes you well!

I can't imagine a person on this planet that would attempt such a thing...Anyways, no one is asking you to be right in this matter...you did what you did and it didn't work, thats politics. I just ask that you have the smarts to recognize what an incredibly bad idea it was...

While he was an assistant coach, he was my coach. Im an outfielder and he was responsible for coaching the outfielders. So for majority of the time I was around him during practices. I don't want you to think that im making him out to be a saint, because he is not. Another former teammate and I were actually talking about this issue today, we both agreed that he is a "tell it like it is" type of coach. This was something that we valued and respected. If im playing awful and not living up to what I can do, then I want a coach who is going to tell me. For me, personally, I don't like things to be sugar coated. While this is something that works for me and my teammates from those successful teams, it might not work for you. I feel that he simply tries to light a fire under you to try to get some type of response. Different coaches have different ways of going about this and obviously for you it wasn't the right way. As an athlete, I offer some advice to you....try not to take things too personal and understand that coaches don't take time out on athletes they feel have no chance or potential. If something is bothering you, simply try to talk to your coach. If face-to-face conversation is something that is hard, then try writing it down. Trust me it helps.
When you talk about the makeup games and wanting to play, are you implying that is is Piercy's fault that you didn't get to play them? When I was there we went to Ohio, which was only one time. We are in a recession and it might not be feasible for a trip. I'm sorry to say but it comes down to money and teams like Gurnee and Zion have the money to do so. Taking a trip is a fun time and does allow for bonding time, but its not the only way or for that fact the best way. A lot of the time we just did different activities together, for example going to a teammates house for dinner or go out to a movie or bowling.
I really don't know where you are getting that he doesn't treat the minorities the same as white people. I'm black and was treated the same by all the coaches. For god sakes we're in Waukegan and he's a teacher in Waukegan were the majority of people here are Hispanic or black. If he were a "racist" why teach/coach here in Waukegan and put himself through that? It has been in my experience that coaches are closer to families when parents are they ones who come to the coach and talk about the game or other things and have conversations with them.

OMG!! I just got home from my summer job. Swright11, I really appreciate everything you said. You make some good points. I swore I knew who you were. Now I do. You were good and had a mean bat. I remember you womping the ball. Anyway, it looks like you got his âgood sideâ when he was Assistant coaching. Could it be possible that heâs different when heâs Head coaching? Are you open to that idea? I have to cut him some slack because maybe he had things going on in his life that were bugging him out like a new marriage, new baby, new head coaching job? My mom says stress sometimes makes people act funny and relationships sometimes start nice and then they go sour sometimes like a bad marriage. People change. So maybe he had had a reason to make us feel bad. But I can promise you I know what I felt & I know what all my friends felt too. And like I said, maybe its coincidence. I donât think so. And I think you might have been coached good back then too. I can tell you what we did in our practices, and it wasnât being coached well. I donât even want to go there because I can write for days and I donât want to say more bad stuff about Coach. I just want him to prove ppl wrong.
Iâm young and I donât know a lot, but Iâm not dumb. I know youâre not saying Iâm dumb, but TRUST me, I know when somebody is yelling AT me & criticizing ME as a person. Thereâs a difference. You know it too. I wonder if an adult coach who is supposed to be in charge with development of HS kids is supposed to understand how he deals with people and that everyone takes it different. Donât they teach that? Doesn't he have a lot of college degrees? Even if he didnât mean to be like that, isnât it smart to try to avoid that? And we did try to talk to coach, but you can't talk to him. He's not open to talking. MAybe he tries to be the bad guy now when hes coaching. Idk.
Also, why would he tell the newspaper that one of my teammates has nobody behind her? That we all let her down? That was printed in the newspaper. Donât you think that made us sad? Mad? And embarrassed? He didnât even apologize to us. Please open yourself to the idea that he might be a different person in different situations and in front of different ppl. But the newspaper definitely knew what he said. He also told that to our faces. Imagine when you were playing if coach shane told the paper you didnât back up niko or Re and if he told ppl there was no talent on the team. that wouldnât be kool. right? That doesnât motivate us. We worked hard for him. I havenât seen you at our games, i donkt think. You must be in college & working. Also a bunch of us were playing in different states in the country, so you couldnât see them. But we do have talent on our team. To say we donât win games because we donât have any good players is just plain wrong. Wouldnât you agree? If we were all basic players, ok, donât give us props for nothing. But a bunch of our team play travel all over the country. Even an OK coach can do something with that. And if there aint no talent, then whose job is it to make sure we are trained well? But we do have talent. I think to know what is truly going on, you have to talk with current players and players who quit. Not just a few who love him. Talk to the rest of the team who play NOW. Because he may have been a nice guy in the past. I feel like Iâm watching the History channel on tv when they talk about the good things he did in the past.
Swright11, youâre right about going far for preseason games. We donât have money. Waukegan is broke. Tru. Tru. I bet thatâs just a fantasy of mine. Maybe the boosters can help us out. Idk. I figured the screen name gave me away, but yes I'm Simone Wright. Who are you? lol I totally understand where you are coming from but I was simply trying to offer a different perspective. Some of the things that you talked about were things that I didn't go through, and was just surprised to hear how much everything changed. I do not doubt that what you say is true. Hopefully (and I'm sure)things change for your team, no one should feel what you guys have. I saw one game this past year, but other than that I just talk to others who are here about the team since I am also playing softball in college. I don't doubt you have talent and hopefully it will show up soon in the record. It's also really hard for WHS athletics in general playing in the league that we have to with powerhouse high schools. Good luck with everything!!! Can't wait to hear about the team and the great things that you guys are doing.

I hope they put together a lawsuit too - I have yet to find a single bit of slander (in this case it would be libel) over the previous five pages of ridiculous bullshit and welcome anyone to point it out, word for word. I won't defend Snoopy and his actions - he did what he thought he had to do for whatever his reasons were. Neither will I allow the continued haranguing of the man for the choices he made.
