Why do you reject the wisdom of Thomas Jefferson? Do you not believe in the wisdom of our Founding Fathers and the framers of our Constitution? Their is no better or wiser alternative in world history. Why do you come across as one who doesn't appreciate the goodness of the idea that is called 'The United States of America?' What other country in world history has provided a more benevolent government for its people or defended human rights as steadily as our country has? I would be ashamed if I were you.

I love the wisdom of Thomas Jefferson. Now I will dissect your statement. You say "Their is no better or wiser alternative in world history". That may very well be true. But what does the fact that there was nothing "better or wiser" than it in the past have anything to do with the present and the future? At one point in time there was "nothing better" than flint for starting fires. Does that mean flint will always be the best way to start a fire? Eveything has it's time and everything always changes. Human society has and always will be about change. We are products of emergent evolution. When the time comes for something the change for the better it is best to let go of the old and embrace the new. To do otherwise is folly in my opinion. We are at that point in time. I have a stong feeling that Thomas Jefferson, if he were alive now, would embace the new... embrace the change. Just as he did 240 years ago. Remember, he did not stubbornly hold on to systems from the 1530's. He was cutting edge 1770's.

I know, i know, it's hard to accept isn't it?

If you seriously think our government is or has been benevolent then you just gave me a new reason to be in awe of the power of brainwashing.

Your country has only been around for 234 years not a long time to make a lot of history, and it that short time (according to historians) you managed to fight at least 12 wars, forced the world into the Nuclear era, made yourself guilty of mass-murder (bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki), began an arm race that will destroy the world 40 times over at it's haydays, invented Kapitalism, invented the Hamburger (well, that was good thing :lol: )

Why Classic, does the most free country in the world DENY same-sex couples the right to marry?

You certainly are entitiled to your opinion about me however wrong you may be. In my opinion anyone who seriously equates someone who advocates a change from a monetary based economy to a resource based economy as a "communist or socialist" has a very lazy mind.

I can understand your unwavering devotion and American pride. I know it makes you feel good and righteous. I can understand your desire to label and pidgeonhole the things you don't agree with, putting them in tidy little polarized opposites to your own beliefs. But I have discovered the brainwashing elements of patriotism and nationalism and how they have held back humankind on this planet for generations. Can you tell me why you wouldn't have similar feelings of pride in your roll as an Earthling? In some ways I feel sorry for you and in some ways I feel sorry for humankind because there are so many people who are unable to think beyond their indoctrinations. You know, there will be a time on this planet when patriotism and nationalism will be looked upon as a barbaric and primative part of our past. I'm certain of that. It's a very probable prediction. It's time to evolve past this crap. There is nothing wrong with reaching for higher ground.
