Man shot and killed in south side Waukegan alley

Is that right, which is granted by the Second Amendment, broad or narrow? Is it granted only for certain purposes or is it granted unconditional? How is the term "arms" defined? What was the intent of those who wrote it? To simply state that it is our right is pedestrian.

Ista, type in WaukeganNewsSun in your Google and see what happens. I hope you can get it---if not, Danno would know how to link it to you.

Thank you very much. I bookmarked it so I can read it on-line, and I will try to get a hardcopy of it Smile

As long as they do not break the window when they deliver, I am fine Smile

I'm sorry but gun control isn't the answer. If we ban guns we are simply taking them out of the hands of the law abiding citizens.

Guns don't kill people. People kill people.

Let's ban knives as well.

In Germany, there is a phenomenon known as a "ghost rider" on the autobahn. Simply put, a person that wants to kill a bunch of people will drive the wrong direction on the autobahn playing chicken with as many people as possible until he/she finally hits a car head on. Sometimes as many as 30 people can die from a single occurrence. So, let's ban automobiles while we're at it, they kill people too.

The 2nd amendent is reads "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." This doesn't sound too vague to me. What part of shall not be infringed don't you people understand?

Rapes are also another crime I want to solve, so let's ban penises. Where does the madness end you people????

Seriously guns are protected the supreme court just reaffirmed it. The question is do we need handguns to hunt? or bazooka carrying militias? I was in a seedy area in Glasgow once and was told to watch out for knife attacks! I laughed growing up around Chicago with gangs and guns. So even if we banned guns murderers still will kill, although I wonder the mortality rate of guns vs knifes.

Dennis, correlation does not prove causation. It could equally be poverty, birthrate or violent culture.

I agree that banning firearms is not the most effective way to decrease murder. It's always important to focus on the root causes and firearms are not the root cause of murder. I laugh to myself every time I see or hear that someone is somehow shocked or surprised that a human has committed murder, rape or some other form of violence against another human when we live in a society which glorifies violence to such a degree that it is literally insane. Current human society is seriously screwed up. We've been doing the same thing for at least 2000 years and it ain't going to change until we decide to change. Mahatma Gandhi said it: "We must become the change we want to see".

Still in the interest of debate, can anyone answer my questions on the Second Amendment. The fact that the Supreme Court recently reaffirmed it is debatable too.

Where does the Second Amendment say anything about the right to use firearms for hunting?

Ok one of the things I find amazing about history is how we love to look backward with 21st century eyes . So Im gonna throw this out there, most likely,as it would seem only common sense the founding fathers intended for us to stay armed for several reasons.
militias were voluntary citizen soldiers, who brought their own guns in the event of some emergency or threat.Taken into the context of the times, maybe the british,or "indian attack" or whatever.People by and large hunted for game as a common practice. This goes w/o saying. Also Ive always had a sneeking feeling that the framers of the constitution wanted US to have the ability to "pull the plug" on our own government, should it become tyranny. Now I do own guns. Do I carry one? hell no. If I was going some where that I thought I was gonna need a gun,why in the hell would I go there? Thats a choice, see? WhY I LOVE america is that it offers choice.Id be pissed off to see that change,or become freedom FROM choice ,rather than freedom OF choice. The right to keep and bear arm is not on obligation to do so,its a choice, and I choose to do so in a respectful manner.
