What does Robin Schabes do exactly?

WHAT are we to do now?
We need a leader now.
We need positive direction.
Home owners in Waukegan need HOPE.
Oh, Waukegan has potential but any vitalization of this city will take time and even then it will require a hero's effort to put it all together. We have been put in a pretty deep hole. Everything will have to be done just right. A concerted effort on all fronts will need to be made by someone who either loves a challenge and has an aversion to failure or someone noble who loves this city intensely. And then that person will have to fully understand the means to effect this vitalization. There isn't one answer for Waukegan but it will require a formula and approach that is very specific to this city and it's situation. Will that realistically happen sometime soon? Most likely not. I think anything less than the above formula will just maintain the status quo for the most part.

I know I am reaching back to November 2009, but what is the situation here, January 31, 2010. Come on, do you suffer from attention deficit disorder( also know as the greatest excuse that slackers ever came up with.) I thought you had some fire, Grover. Oh, my mistake, Im thinking of a later post. Why don't you check on this issue and give us all an update? Harold Beadling

Geez Danno, I know I am responding to an old post here but, what in the hades are you talking about? I'm thinking that if you took control, it would be just as bad, only in a different way. Harold Beadling

There is no research to do here because Robin Schabes has done nothing as the director of downtown and lakefront development.

She earns a salary over 6 figures and has lost more business / developers downtown than she's gained. The current economic downturn has just worked as an nice excuse for her (and Ray Vukovich for that matter), because prior to that the scorecard for the City of Waukegan regarding attracting developers and investors to the last vestige of lakefront property between Chicago and Milwaukee has always read zero.

And the rumors are that Robin Schabes will be taking on a more prominent role in the current administration. Are we to allow this to happen?

Sifting Bird,

I haven't heard that she'll be taking a greater roll in city government...which doesn't mean anything, but please, please tell us more! Your last post says it all! She's obviously used the economy to her "advantage" in, unfortunately, not accomplishing much.

Please share with us what you know...

Harold...I haven't chimed in on this one for a bit, because frankly, I don't have any updates to share! Wish I did. I basically wanted to raise the issue with voters, and get "whoever" fired up.

Keep this post going everyone...If Ms. Schabes is going to receive additional responsibilities and salary with the city...and if she is to be approved by the City Council &/or Mayor Bob, I say "bleh" to them all. I thought the plan was to bring folks into City Hall that were more "professional?" She's done nothing! If they offer her a better job, they will all lose my vote.

Honestly, they're giving away the farm, people!

On an unrelated (but sort of related) topic, do you KNOW how many liquor licenses were approved by City Hall in the last month? At least 3. "3" additional liquor stores in Waukegan...yea, that's what we need...

Harold, you are certainly entitled to think whatever you want no matter how wrong you may be. Unless of course you mean bad as in BAAADDD!
I've given a lot of thought to the matter of vitalization of the lakefront and downtown area and I do have some experience in this area. I have no doubt whatsoever that, out of all the possible ways to bring such positive change about, there is one path, one formula, that would be easist to implement with the greatest chance of success. I know what that is and I'm not going to tell anyone...

When I used to sit through all the ULI meetings. Meeting after meeting all I could think was that their ideas were "forced". They didn't take into account the factors that are unique to Waukegan. They were trying to mold Waukegan into something it would never be. They were using universal formula when very specific formula were to be most effective and important They went against the natural flow.... the naturaql proclivities... My ideas go with the natural flow...

For all I know, Larry Tenpas, Sam Cunningham, Rick Larsen, Pat Needham, Bill Durkin, Billy Durkin, Dick Hyde, Ray Vukovich, Terry Link, Eddie Washington, Russ Tomlin and Robin Schabes, Pete Couvall and all the geniuses over at North Ave. HQ, and maybe even you, know what I know, but have been holding back all this time.

Dear Danno, I need to update you on my current status. I left the Democratic Party nearly 3 years ago. I didn't see the point in being a member of a political party that did not allow me to raise certain issues and ask questions of the elected officials at the monthly party meetings which usually resulted in shout downs or hasty meeting adjournments. I am now an elected Republican Precinct committeeman, Northern Il Patriots, and Taxday Teaparty member. These groups represent a breath of fresh air, to me. Harold Beadling

Just imagine if we could align all the groups in town that have shown even a suspicion of interest in attempting to change the face of our government, for the slightest of cause or issue; how that would shake the all too comfortable elected officials and their lack luster appointed toadies.
