We don't need some wild ideas about where we came from or where we are headed - or what should have happened. We need fixes for today and we need them today. Going forward what can be done to right the wrongs? How can we live like this? How can we continue caring for people that are not our own? People who would rather be in their own country? People who's only goal is to make money to send home - or save enough to go home one day? Does the USA really have to suffer in the mean time? Do our citizens - who have worked hard to buy property - a piece of the American Dream - do we really have to suffer just because some one was born here - and doesn't really want to be here?
You don't answer my questions either.
Wild ideas? All of the points that you discounted are very relevant. We need to know who and what we truly are to make informed decisions for our future. We carry a lot of baggage from the past... a lot and we hang on to it for a long time. We've been operating on false assumptions and mythology and it is hurting humankind. We need to stop. We know better. We deserve better. What a lot of people don't understand is that humans can be so much better than we currently are. We have tremendous almost unlimited potential to be better. The baggage that we carry from the past has and is holding us back from reaching that potential but people are so caught us in those old ways that they can't see it. They argue whether a democrat or republican is the solution when the reality is neither. People are so caught up trying to fix a faulty system that they can't see how faulty it really is. It's like being so obsessed with endlessly repairing an old broken down jalopy that you never pay attention to the brand new automobile sitting in your driveway.

You say "How can we continue caring for people that are not our own?" What do you mean "not our own"? Do you mean not in your own family or not of this Earth? The time is right in human social evolution to start forgetting about borders. Borders divide us. We need to come together.... cooperate. We need to stop fighting each other. Any excuse you come up with for not being able to do that is simply that old baggage speaking. Eliminating borders, at least in an intellectual sense, may not be the right thing to do when you are only concerned about money but it is right when you are concerned about humanity and peaceful coexistence.
