Tea Party activists shout racial slurs at Congressmen

At least two members of this forum have attempted to link Tea Party members with the Ku Klux Klan, one even posted a link to their website. Even if there was one moron in the crowd, that doesn't make them the official spokesman for an entire movement. That would be equivalent to saying that because President Obama is friends with and looks up to Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, he is a communist too. Here, read this eye opener. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Ayers Personally, I wouldn't knowingly associate with communists, but then again, I am not a Progressive either.
There is no valid and logical correlation between your analogy regarding the relationship between Obama, Ayers, Dohrn and communism and the relationship between the Tea Party Movement and individuals who have a tendency to be racist.
On the one side you have the element of human interpersonal relationships. There are true friendships and there are acquaintances. I know I have both friends and acquaintances who have quite diverse backgrounds. For all I know they may be white supremacists or communists. The point is that there are many facets to interpersonal relations and if you are single mindedly selective in that process you are probably screwed up. On the other hand you have an individual choosing to associate with an organization. In this case people usually choose to associate with an organization which has qualities that the person is attracted to and in accord with. In this case the qualities of the Tea Party are attractive to and in accord with White Supremacists mindset.

I'll close with an analogy. I have friends who knit. I don't like to knit but don't exclude people from being my friends or acquaintances because they like to knit. There are many other qualities that form our friendship. Because I don't like knitting I do not join knitting clubs. Usually the only people attracted to join a knitting club would be people who have an interest in knitting. People who like to crochet might also join a knitting club because of the relative similarities.
