All I know is the students are voicing the fact that this is happening. The particulars of whether they're being paid or not aren't certain. The word they used to describe who these people are is "volunteers." Volunteers who are telling them to form a circle and pray, by the way.
Keep in mind these are non-certified people standing in for what should be a certified teacher's responsibilities.
The absences are unexcused, I would think. The students are in danger of not getting a P.E. credit they need in order to graduate. The two-fer on make up sessions is totally unacceptable.
