Now is the time to organize and prepare for the aldermanic elections.
You might say "Let us savor the moment." Sorry, but the GOB will NOT take a 'time out'. Sabonjian is going to have a lot of work cut out for him, and the City Council will fight him tooth and nail regarding any reforms that he does not have direct control of. They will even try to take away whatever powers he has.
Whoever your alderman is, be sure to hold them responsible for all of their actions. Be vocal about what the city is doing or not doing. Be calm, but be firm and persistent! Not fanatical, as that will get you pegged as a 'nut', but demand accountability and don't take "I'll get back to you" as the last words you hear from them. They need to know that they will be held accountable for what they do or don't do.
Most of all, keep working at getting your friends, next-door neighbors, or the guy down the street who is as ticked off about the City's antics as you are. For a city the size of Waukegan, the turnabout was way too low. The more voters you have on your side, the better the chance that an election won't be stolen by the sudden appearance of additional ballots, or a massive amount of absentee voters who just happened to mark their ballots for the GOB and erase the non-GOB candidate's lead.
