Dennis_Ista Wrote:As some people view it, America resembles a certain ancient Roman republic, in which the Senators have the power, and it is ruled by the Praetor, or Emperor.
Replace Praetor by President and you got the same.
I think democracy is still in the Us, it is only buried somewhere beneath the red tape, corruption and well ment intentions.
what I think is go back to basics, review the system as a whole, see what we do not need and then rebuild. Dennis,
We are in a really bad time when a lot of people have an opinion and they think that their opinion is as valid (true) as the next persons. That there is more than one version of the truth. That some things which are not true can be true for them because they want it that way. This can't be. It's impossible. The opinion of the average Glenn Beck Teabagger, who probably has trouble spelling the wording of a protest sign, is not as valid as the scientific based opinion of a genius like Jacque Fresco.
It also seems that there are a lot of people who are either not intelligent enough to recognize truth or they intentionally prefer to not recognize the truth as truth because of ulterior motives which may even be done on a subconscious level. We, all of us in the world today, are so programmed into our world view and have been lied to so much that we tend to lose that ability to know what is true. There are many reasons why we resist seeing the truth and accepting it as such and we won't have a better world, a better society until we all recognize these points. The clouding of truth is in favor of those who seek control.
Dennis, you seem to have the open mindedness and intelligence to comprehend what is in the following lecture. It is rather long, about 1 and 3/4 hours long but I find it easy to watch because it is so fascinating.

My, that was ugly! I looked up your scientific based, opinionative genius, Jacque Fresco, and he is referred to as a 'social engineer' and embraces a philosophy of scientific research without regard to cost. Who exactly decides where these unlimited research funds go is not made clear. He also declares that our major cities are too antiquated to retool to his standards and should be rebuilt in new areas. For the life of me I can't imagine where you would relocate a city the size of New York, or Los Angeles? He also doesn't state what he would do with the old abandoned cities. Danno, my impressionable friend, he is just a marxist existing off the official reservation with an audience of three: himself, Roxanne Meadows, and you. This is an excerpt from Wikipedia, although they point out that their are some unresolved differences in his bio regarding the absence of any third party publication documentation, meaning he probably wrote his own bio and submitted it to Wikipedia. He does, however, appear to have a flair for drawing pictures of futuristic looking buildings, keeping in mind that " without regard to cost philosophy." Danno, Dennis is a college educated chemist, who probably lives in a 16th century era village in Holland without indoor plumbing, not to mention that his people don't even have leather shoes to wear. Think about what you wrote above, please. And then edit, and all will be forgotten. To all who read this reply, check out the 'City Systems' link at the end of this short article, also.
[edit] The Venus Project
Main article: The Venus Project
The Venus Project was started around 1975 by Fresco[1][5] and by former portrait artist, Roxanne Meadows in Venus, Florida, USA. Its research center is a 21-acre (85,000 m2) property with various domed buildings of his design, where they work on books and films to demonstrate their concepts and ideas. Fresco has produced an extensive range of scale models based on his designs.[3] The Venus Project was incorporated in 1995.[6][7] The Venus Project originated as a plot of land in Florida which was purchased after liquidating a previous company by the name of sociocyberneering inc [8][9], which also was a piece of land purchased by payments from the sociocyberneering group members[10].The Venus Project is a two part business, a non profit company called 'Future by Design' [11] and a for profit company called 'Venus Project Inc./Global Cybervisions Inc.'[12]
Venus project was founded on the idea that poverty is caused by the stifling of progress in technology, which itself is caused by the present world's profit-driven economic system.[13] The progression of technology, if it were carried on independent of its profitability, Fresco theorizes, would make more resources available to more people thereby reducing corruption and greed, and instead make people more likely to help each other.[14][5][15] Fresco advocates against a money-based economy in favor of what he refers to as a Resource based economy.[16]
In a 2008 interview with Fresco and Meadows, Fresco stated that a 'lack of credentials' has made it difficult for him to gain influence in academic circles. He adds that when universities do invite him to speak, they often don't give him enough time to explain his views. http://www.thevenusproject.com/technology/city-systems

There are at least 10 parts to this video so after part one finishes look for part 2 on the right.

Here is a 6 part Youtube vid of Peter Joseph, another genius. He comes close to predicting humanity's worst war ever, WWIII, in part 6.

I find this remark highly insulting and degenerative to me and the people of my country.
Classic, I request an apology on this matter.

Dennis, I sincerely apologize to you. I was only having a little fun with the images we typically see on the travel channel's european tours. You have to admit, though, wood shoes were a brutal choice of footwear. Lighten up, I still love you Dennis.

I accept the apology, but I woud have preferred if you wrote in which context it was.
Wooden Shoes are very good for your back.
And they help you if something falls on your toes, that is very heavy.
They will not break!!

Touche, my valued friend. I look forward to assisting you in your future assimilation to American life. After all, diversity is what makes the world go 'round. I will guarantee that you will cherish your new found individual rights. Quote:Dennis says:And they help you if something falls on your toes, that is very heavy.
I am sorry to inform you that our federal agency, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, would not allow wood shoes to take the place of metal tipped boots.
