Mayor Bob, WTF?
#51
Stargazer, Waukegan will find out soon enough just how disjointed a bi-polar Mayor can be. He's not Hyde, thats enough for most of those who voted for him. Mayor Bob II's bi-polar disability actually fits this town very well.

The "Trio of Thugs" - Couvall-Tenpas-Link are now going to be trying to drive Bob out of office for the next 3 years. They only care about getting back in in power and not the well being of Waukegan. Every step of the way they will attempt to undermine, not only Bob's competency but his sanity also. What a pathetic bunch of true scoundrels to whom ethics and morals are a completely foreign concept. When Bob won the election Larry felt he was cheated out of his way into the mayors office...the only thing he really cared about for the last 30 years. He felt he paid his dues for the good old boys... ran for mayor when he had no intention of winning only to facilitate a loss for any opposition. Poor Larry, a sorry pathetic loser after the election who has now developed into a desperate and even more pathetic sore loser.

That's your problem, limited thought process, anyone who doesn't completely support Bob II must be part of that evil troika, sorry to disappoint. I know Bob the 2nd and his election to office is just plain scary. An example of how easily voters are swayed and just how ignorant they really are. Bob isn't Hyde, some qualification.

Are you saying Hyde would have been a better choice?

We have a few questions that need answers and are hoping somebody can help. Why do we keep hearing about employees leaving city hall? The head of finance has just resigned. All of the employees that have given notice are taking the early retirement that Mayor Bob has made available to them or have simply bailed because they do not want to be part of what is going on. We heard this includes the head of engineering, the head of human resources, the head of public works and on and on. Who will be left that has any experience? We also want to know why is Mayor Bob pulling the financial support from the Waukegan band? Didn't two nights of extra police, fire and public works employees at scooping Genesee cost more than the couple thousand it costs to support the band? It looks like Mayor Bob supports drinking in the streets but not the arts and music. When will the madness end? The people who live here better seriously consider what is happening to the city before it goes past the point of no return.

You are taking all these alleged "facts" and trying to weave a story that won't hold water. Biddy Johnson was forced out/left rather than face an investigation of public works finances. Waukegan wouldn't be in the state it is in if the city had professional at the helm. Let them all go and get some new blood with professional skills, rather than being a friend, child, or buddy of someone in the city government.

I have read all of the posts and can sum the state of the City of Waukegan Politics up in one sentence, maybe two.

"There is zero legitimacy among any of our leaders, a quality that is necessary for effective leadership. When uneducated good ole boys have control, this is what happens, yielding a lost constituency"

That's just my take on it. Granted, Hyde had his faults. Many of his decisions, I disagreed with. The idea of deliverance from Hydonomics to Sabonjionomics was greeted with open arms and maybe too readily. Investigation into his past and clear eyes was overlooked. Did Mayor S come into a bad situation? Probably. Caused by Hyde? Partly. The question remains, what happens now that another era has taken office with the same City Council? There is clearly a divide between the Aldermen and Mayor S. With this in mind 4 months into a 4 year stint, what hopes can we have of progress or will the regression continue?

I just can't understand how any thinking person could prefer Hyde over Sabonjian. If the council can't get with the program then they need to be held accountable. THEY are the problem.
