Park Board race: Bob Taylor, Sue Rose-Sassone Meet-n-greet
#11
TKon2,

Bob mentioned when he talked to the crowd Friday night he had work for the Park District but he did not say when. A phone number to reach him is listed earlier in this strand. Give him a call. We will find out first hand if he is accessible and willing to hear your opinion.

I was just at the fieldhouse and spoke with the people over there about what the park district does for youth sport. It seems to me they provide much more than Sasson and Taylor realize. THe parks provide money to pay for refs. They also pay for the upkeep of all the baseball fields. And the soccer fields. He told me they also make improvements to the schools when they use them. The budget for maintenacne of the fields is over $100,000. I think the guys do a great job. We play travel and our fields are much better then other. Show me a field that is better. We played in Beach Park and after complaing Waukegan helped them out to fix the field. I have attended the meetings for the sports complex and am all for it. I am getting involved in this years park board election cause I think we have the best park district around. I am all for Pat Foley and Terry Duffy. Dont try to fix, what aint broke! More posts to come from me as I am goig to talk to someone at the parks about everything said here.

Jack,

Your energy has me fired up. I to am going to ask question of the Park District. It is always good to hear answers from both sides. Have you talk to anyone in particular at the fieldhouse? Also, who would you talk to about the golf? I am going to ask questions, but not sure who to see. Can you help?

After reading past posts, and myself getting a bit fired up, I called Greg Petry at the Waukegan Park District and he answered the questions I presented to him. So as to not give information that is not 100% (since I was pacing while talking to him and not taking notes) I suggest you call him. He is very approachable and he will be able to answer your questions.

I think it is pretty pathetic that there is all this buzz on the park district and no one is talking about those running for school board and raising questions on District #60 or the election for mayor other than going on about Kolber. It just seems a bit odd to me.

Justwondering,

Thanks for the suggestion. I had heard he is approachable. Did you talk about youth soccer or youth baseball? "Jack" seem to be saying that the Park District spends a lot of money maintaining School District property. Did you and Mr. Petry get a chance to talk about this?

I am also involved in Travel ball affiliated with a Park District progam. I support some great ideas from both sides. As a member of a non-profit organization, an officer of said, I cannot endorse anyone publically. My understanding is the Complex almost went to bid with four softball/baseball fields at the complex, unlike the five fields that was initially proposed? This is hearsay, but I see a simple town like Gurnee with a 13 field complex for baseball/softball, and I get a bit envious. I hope we continue keep the children in mind as important decisions are made. The Park District has been wonderful to our youth, of course I will always want more for them.
