Who's at fault...
...when your neighbor redirects there rain downspout and it drains into your yard, then your garden is washed away? 
...when a road is repaved & the rainwater is redirected into your yard drowning your grass and washing away your soil? :cry:
...when the ally behind your house, which is owned by the village, is repaved without a care to it's drainage. Then you're finding extra rainwater in your yard and around your house. Then later finding your homes foundation is unevenly sinking causing major damage? :o
And we're paying higher & higher real-estate taxes for...... a poor job? :evil:
A little something I found in our Illinois law books.
So far three different city officials have been informed of this continuing personal property damage. This problem has gone well over a year now after the first contact.
"If said cause of damage continues to go unrepaired after several attempts to have said problem corrected within a reasonable amount of time..."
"Intentional wrongful damage to the property of another is a crime. The damage must be to something physical - for example, to a dog, a lawn mower, a building, a television set, a motor vehicle or any other tangible thing and it must be real (usually decided on the basis of whether there was any financial loss)." In this case it's a building.

By chance, do you live in Beach Park? I have had similar complaints with the mayor of B.P. about neighbors doing damage to my property. Of course he did'nt do anything to fix it, he was a real wise a$$ to me. Fortunately for me, these neighbors have moved, they are Winthrop Harbors problem now. Also, got a message from the mayor of B.P. on my answering machine last week and he even admitted he was idiot!!! :lol:
It appears the way life is now days there are no good neighbors (or towns). Whatever happened to, "look out for thy neighbor",... "be friendly to thy neighbor", "help thy neighbor"? Too bad Mayberry wasn't real, all good people would move there.
If it isn't greed, it's all about, ME ME ME and F :oops: U :oops: or, more than likely, BOTH :!:
I'm not in B.P. We looked at moving there but that town is also going down hill... ethnic wise. TRUTH HURTS, hey B.P. (and others).
I've been around a long-long time and lived many places so the following situations I know for fact. Blacks move into your "hood", your realestate value drops by (ABOUT) 1/2. Browns move in, it drops (ABOUT) 1/3. So which is the better evil? Sorry, TRUTH HURTS! . (hint) :roll: White "hoods" don't have bars on there store doors and windows. 
OH, the water problem.... when the village does nothing then your next possible/probable recourse is the EPA. They oversee the implementation of the Safe Drinking Water Act, and by the way, is the NATIONAL LAW that safeguards tap water in America. Isn't B.P. drinking from wells? You just may have a case too.

That is just_ not true. B.P. very well is going down hill but it is not due to any certain race moving in here!!
I happen to be white, the "trash" that used to live next door to me, well, guess what!!! They were white, and there is nothing worse than white trash. While they were living in my "hood", they really could have brought property values down, so happy they were "run" outta here!!

Years ago the Mayor of B.P. did the same thing (re-directing water flow onto a neighbors property) to one of his neighbors over there on 29th St.

Look up the Army Corps of Engineers Chicago office and explain the situation and ask them what to do. They do concern themselves with such issues.

Just_Us- I happen to have absolutely wonderful neighbors, and we do watch out for each other. I never expected to have such wonderful neighbors outside military housing.
That being said- it's a good thing I do have wonderful neighbors, and it's a good thing we do look out for each other, because, God knows, our alderman could give a sh*t! :twisted:
