The city of Waukegan has announced that a snow emergency will go into effect at 7 p.m. tonight, meaning that any cars parked on designated snow routes will be ticketed and towed to clear a path for snow plows.
City spokesman David Motley said the parking ban â which primarily affects streets in the downtown area and others marked with red, white and blue snow route signs â will likely remain in place into the daytime hours on Wednesday as public works crews continue to work on clearing streets of blowing snow.
