I'm going to post this here as well as not everyone might go into the schools forum.

As parents this is one of our worst nightmares. I did not see this person on the Illinois Sex Offenders list. Either he's new to the area, not registered or finally gave in to his impulses. No rationale thought processes here; went to abduct someone on a bike.

I hope every charge sticks. It all makes no sense. I think I read that the California man who kidnapped the girl for 18 years had been on a previous 50 year sentence and was released after 10 years -look what happened after that. These people are not cured...

A Waukegan man faces felony sex charges after he allegedly tried to abduct a 10-year-old girl from her front yard.

Waukegan police used a neighborhood canvas Thursday afternoon to capture 24-year-old Danny Carbajal of the 1400 block of Hamilton Court. Police were alerted to Carbajal Wednesday evening when a girl in the 100 block of Washington Park told officers someone matching his description approached her and her siblings on their front yard.

The girl said the man asked where their mother was, and then he grabbed the 10-year-old and walked away. After the other kids began screaming, he let go of the girl and rode away on his bicycle.

Police searched the area and spoke to other neighbors, who reported a similar incident occurred a few days earlier involving another pre-teen victim. In that incident, the man made sexually explicit comments to a girl.

The description provided by both victims matched the description of a suspicious person seen that afternoon outside Miguel Juarez Middle School, 201 N. Butrick St., said police Lt. Ed Fitzgerald.

With that information, Police Chief Artis Yancey ordered officers set up extra patrols in the area. Within an hour of launching the patrols, officers saw Carbajal, who matched witnesses descriptions, Fitzgerald said.

Carbajal was captured following a short chase. He has been charged with attempted predatory sexual assault, unlawful restraint and attempted aggravated kidnapping.

I'm angry with that 10yr old's parents. She actually was walking away with a stranger? Maybe she's mentally handicapped. Glad the other kids screamed. That bastard had to the nerve to go into the yard? Was he going to put her on his bike? FRY THE BASTARD. Put him in a cell where the guys like guys. :x

If convicted he should be put in a lab to take out parts of his brain until we learn what part of the brain moves these predators. That way we’ll learn how to fix these people for good. But you would have to do this quickly while the bleeding heart liberals are busy trying to charge people with water boarding the terrorists that brought the 9/11 massacre to us.

Blaming the parents cause the girl went with this creep? Don't blame them, you don't know what they did or didn't teach the girl! The report didn't say if his hand was or wasn't over her mouth, perhaps she was in shock and froze? Only person to blame is this creep!

The 25-year-old man accused of trying to kidnap a 10-year-old girl to have sex with is now said to have prowled the halls of Miguel Juarez Middle School in Waukegan the same day on the hunt for a victim.

Danny Carbajal of Waukegan is charged with aggravated kidnapping and attempted predatory criminal sexual assault. The kidnapping charge carries a potential sentence up to 30 years in prison, and the sex charge is punishable up to 15 years in prison.

Assistant State's Attorney Bodie Haxall argued at a hearing Monday to admit two separate incidents involving the Carbajal that establish his intent and motive to have sex with a child.

Carbajal allegedly made suggestive, graphic statements to a 12-year-old girl at a public laundry a few days before the alleged kidnapping attempt. He is also accused of entering the halls of a middle school the same day he tried to kidnap the 10-year-old, Haxall said.

Miguel Juarez Middle School students can testify to seeing Carbajal in the school hallways, Haxall said, calling these acts "relevant" and asserting they demonstrated Carbajal's intent and motive to have sex with a child.

Carbajal's attorney, public defender Cynthia Pruim Haran, argued against allowing a jury to hear the testimony, saying the additional incidents will cause jurors to make a "snap decision" about her client. She argued that the "severe allegations" would create prejudice for the jury.

Judge Christopher Stride will rule on the motion March 5. Carbajal's trial is scheduled to begin April 12.

Question: How was this alleged kidnapper allowed in a Waukegan Public School in the first place?
How did he get in during classes? Don't we have security staff at our schools to prevent such alleged
"walk-ins" or at least adult hallway monitors??

It seems to me plenty of questions to ask the Waukegan Public Schools about this alleged situation, too.
