Attempted abduction?

Just heard through the grape vine that there was an attempted child abduction of a student in Juarez yesterday (during school hours?). Then yesterday evening there was another attempt 1 block south of Abbott on the bike bike path just east of the school. Heard the man was described by both kids involved and they think it's the same guy. There were police all over this morning at Abbott--at and near the bike path. Police at Juarez this morning (?), unknown.

Anyone have any additional info.?

Whoa.... I looked at the News Sun site and nothing yet. How frightening for parents. Do I even let my children play in the front yard till he is caught?

When he is caught I want to hear about his background. Was he registered? Where was he living? And if he went after two children so quickly he is way way out of control.

One has to think of that sick ...... man who kept the girl for 18 years.

I'll go check CLTV, maybe something is there.

I'm considering contacting the local tabloid and seeing if they can look into this. The secrecy in the district is worse than the News-Sun's ignorance.

The schools owe it to us to inform every parent of a potential threat that our children could be exposed to. I hope this creep is exposed before anyone is harmed. No holds barred against perverts against Waukegan kids, or any child, for that matter! Sickening!

What I heard is pretty similar. A scum bag tried to abduct a 10 yr old who fought him off! She was able to give details about the guy, his tattoos, looks, etc! He some how enter Juarez and they kicked him out, before they knew what happened, then he entered the hs on Washington where they found him in the bathroom!! Glad they moved the security guards out to the ms and hs, really seems like they are doing their jobs!! Not! How did this person enter the schools?

I guess the Principals were sent an email via LC for a lock down, but most schools did not apply to it!

They caught him. And thank goodness. I don't think he would have stopped till he'd gotten someone. I looked at the Illinois Sex Offender site and did not see him listed. So either he's never been caught before, new to the area, or finally gave in to his impulses. Side Note: What criminal goes to abduct someone on a bike. It perhaps shows how completely out of control he was on that day.

I hope all of these charges stick. He needs to be locked away for a very long time. He looks familiar to me...

A Waukegan man faces felony sex charges after he allegedly tried to abduct a 10-year-old girl from her front yard.

Waukegan police used a neighborhood canvas Thursday afternoon to capture 24-year-old Danny Carbajal of the 1400 block of Hamilton Court. Police were alerted to Carbajal Wednesday evening when a girl in the 100 block of Washington Park told officers someone matching his description approached her and her siblings on their front yard.

The girl said the man asked where their mother was, and then he grabbed the 10-year-old and walked away. After the other kids began screaming, he let go of the girl and rode away on his bicycle.

Police searched the area and spoke to other neighbors, who reported a similar incident occurred a few days earlier involving another pre-teen victim. In that incident, the man made sexually explicit comments to a girl.

The description provided by both victims matched the description of a suspicious person seen that afternoon outside Miguel Juarez Middle School, 201 N. Butrick St., said police Lt. Ed Fitzgerald.

With that information, Police Chief Artis Yancey ordered officers set up extra patrols in the area. Within an hour of launching the patrols, officers saw Carbajal, who matched witnesses descriptions, Fitzgerald said.

Carbajal was captured following a short chase. He has been charged with attempted predatory sexual assault, unlawful restraint and attempted aggravated kidnapping.

I'm glad this creep was caught. Sorry to say that the school district never informed the parents in the district, they never even informed the staff (except for security, and that was the NEXT day) about this. It's the staff that stands duty outside in the am and pm that have the safety of the kids on campus as their charge. Why wasn't everyone informed, including the parents?

LC did inform the Principals, I know of only one school who was on lock down as the emails suggested!! It was the Principals who dropped the ball and didn't do what they should have!!
