Kudos, John Schwab, Waukegan Treasurer!
#1
I was in attendance at the most recent City Council meeting. Treasurer John Schwab brought up the fact that for the last 3 years there were no audits completed for the city by former treasurer Pat Dutcher. Maybe this is symtomatic (sp?) of what is going wrong in the City of Waukegan. What I found disturbing is that only Ald. Sam Cunningham commented on Dr. Schwab's report. What do the other aldermen have to say about this? What do the citizens of Waukegan have to say about this?

Here's a thought...maybe the City of Waukegan wouldn't have had the embarrasing scandle in Public Works (which is currently pending) if these financial audits were scrutinized. Many employees were getting letters from the city's attorney in reference to having any knowledge of this "scandle."

Have any of you received letters? 8-)

I happen to know that the city finance director knew of this a couple of years ago.

I read a week or so ago that Schwab is going to run for the County Board and will still keep the position he was just elected to.
This seems like a conflict of interest and more of the same old good old boy machinations that got us to the point we are today.
It seems like a common theme with several Waukegan Democrats to hold two government jobs at the same time.
What a sense of entitlement and arrogance these guys and gals have.

I think Schwab should focus on trying to straighten out the City's finances rather trying to have two tax payer funded positions.

then convince the voters of that fact since they are the ones doing the "hiring"

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what you can do for your country, ask what your country can do for you.

Are you sure? Is "country" specific enough to be a proper noun? I would think country is the common noun and United States of America is the proper noun. You know, you're not to old for me to put you over my knee and spank you young lady!

Grover,
Can you give some insight into the pending scandal at the Public Works?
I've heard rumors of numerous improprieties ove the years.
Is there some new incident that has come to light?
I seem to recall Mayor Bob saying that he was going to have an investigation done and he fired the old Dept. Head without notice or comment.
Sounds like some heads may be starting to roll.

One head rolled and is being temporarily replaced by Hagerty who had his problems and was 'let go," before they brought in Biddy. everything old in new again.
