1. Months before the election, with almost no notice, agree to meet with a small group of concerned citizens.
2. Provide reasonable answers to all of their questions.
3. Meet with and listen to people who are very different from you.
4. Do not engage in negative campaigning.
5. Have your people behave in a professional manner at all times.
6. Don't let the bastards get you down.
