Handel's Do-It-Yourself Messiah Choral Tutor lets singers create family or community productions of Handel's holiday classic.

Parts for 17 Messiah choruses have been digitally recorded (accompanied by the Yamaha Clavinova), and follow the G. Schirmer edition of Handel's masterpiece.

Each voicing (soprano, alto, tenor, bass--SABT) has its own audio in either CD or cassette.

Voicings are sold separately, or in specially priced groups of four (one of each voicing).

There is a do it yourself Messiah in Zion as part of the Festival of Lights. It costs $5.00.

The Do It Yourself Messiah WILL be performed on December 20, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church located at 128. N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. in downtown Waukegan. (across the street from the rear side of the Waukegan Public Library.)

Tickets are available for the modest price of $10.00 and will be available at the door, or by calling the Jack Benny Center for the Performing Arts at 847-360-4740. It was the intention of the Waukegan Park District to sell scores at the original venue. Those who planned on buying one before the performance should contact the Benny Center to make sure scores will be available at the new location.

There hasn't been a community event to celebrate the holiday season from any other entity....come share the magic of raising your voice in song with your fellow Waukeganites.
