Humans of course can succumb to their nature derived programming but usually only when specific environmental conditions deem the specific act acceptable. It is also human nature to rape but you didn't see that happen. Why? Humans, compared to other animals or apes, have a much greater capacity to be conditioned by their environment. We are 95% environmental conditioning and 5% nature. So, as a society goes so goes its individuals and the individuals, in general, can only be as good as the whole of society. It's a cold hard fact that, on many levels, in many specific environmental conditions, violence is not only accepted in our society but it is glorified. Why is it then somehow shocking when individuals within that society display violence? Violence is so prevalent within our society that I've seen mothers teach it to newborn babies yet we seem to not notice or care.
