To what are you referring??? If you are referring to "Zion Nostalgia Days" it has not been my experience that is an event marked by
"hanging out with roving bands of thugs and gangbangers."

Actually, it is better run than Waukegan's Scoop ever has been IMHO, and is much more famiiy oriented. Certainly, you are entilted to your opinion,
as I am to mine.

For anyone interested, here is the Official Website for "Zion Nostalgia Days 2010"....

Nostalgia Days must be doing something right. 24 consecutive years, put on by the same group.

I agree that Zion has done a good job with "Nostalgia Day's". There is definitely a stigma attached to Scoopin' Gennessee as it has gotten ridiculous. Public drunkeness and fighting are a common ocurrence here. It would definitely require a large amount of security to keep things in line as we don't want an embarrassment to occur for the city. So as far as it being cancelled, I have no problems with it as the money is sorely needed in other areas of the city.

Putting down Nostalgia Days won't bring Scoop the Loop back.

There are two reasons (in my opinion) why the Scoop is gone. First is beer sales. While 99% of the attendees can enjoy a beer or two with no problem, the remaining 1% turn into drunken a-holes and ruin it for the rest of us. Secondly I know many of the Nostalgia Days committee members and they have one goal, to try and put on the best event possible. There are no politicians or politics involved. While there are several city employees, including the police chief, and, I believe, one alderman, on the committee, they are all volunteers, the city does not spend any money on this event. I have been told that Nostalgia Days pays the city for the police to assist. Maybe someone should ask them how they do it.

How is Nostalgia Days funded?

The most logical reason would be sponsoring?

I thought for sure that the City donated some kind of a fund---if its not costing the City anything, and its all being "sponsored", why the cancellation?
