Theodore Roosevelt Quote

[Image: download?mid=1%5f26446%5fAGpck0UAAIZqS%2...x&inline=1]

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'

That patriotism thing... oh so important... especially when you need cannon fodder. So T. Roosevelt was against the teaching of other languages in schools?

Teddy Roosevelt loved fighting and warfare, this is a historical fact, "the Rough Riders." He was no peace maker, and he lived in a time BEFORE nuclear weapons when one could still afford the "luxury" of a love of war.

WE DO NOT have that "luxury" today unless we ALL want to bring this world to ultimately BURN.

How many of you Progressives, zeitgeists, LaRouchies, or whatever your socialist flavor of the year is, have children? How many of you own your own homes? That means the mortgage is in your name. None of you sound like you have a clue as to the struggles of everyday existence. The United States of America is the most benevolent nation in the history of the world. Why do you have to constantly tear our people down?

It is also a historical fact that President Theodore Roosevelt won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Comparisons like this are meaningless. When you say "most benevolent in the history of the world" it is a vague comparitive. If you said the United States is a benevolent county then that would have more meaning. While our country has done benevolent things it cannot be considered a benovolent country, (well at least to those who are not brainwashed) just as John Wayne Gacy has done some benevolent things.

Tear people down? do you equate "people " with country? I remember that idiot Bill Durkin when he was mayor bad mouthing people who were being "Negative" about Waukegan.
My response is the same to you. The first step to effective problem solving is open discussion of the problem itself.

Why don't you, first, describe YOUR personal contribution to American life. I think we have some people here that have lived off their parents and have nothing to show for their decades of human existence. Stop attacking those of us who foolishly pay our unreasonable government tax burden. You people are heading us down the road to ruin.
