WAUKEGAN -- Madeline Hernandez will probably think twice about drugs and driving after what happened to her this week.
Hernandez, 45, of the 1400 block of Ridgeland Avenue drove her late-model Ford Mustang in the wrong direction down Grand Avenue near Green Bay Road before finally striking another vehicle about five miles north near Waukegan Regional Airport.

She had cocaine in her system, police said.
Hernandez was charged with reckless driving, driving without vehicle insurance, improper lane usage, DUI and operating a vehicle without vehicle registration.
The crash occurred about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. A motorist called police and reported seeing Hernandez driving out of control on Grand Avenue at Green Bay Road.
Waukegan Lt. Edward Fitzgerald said Hernandez was initially traveling north on Green Bay Road and later ended up in the southbound lane. Moments later, the vehicle she was driving collided head-on with a vehicle at Green Bay Road and Center Street.
Hernandez was taken to Vista Medical Center East, Waukegan, where she was treated and released. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, Fitzgerald said.
Hernandez was then taken into custody and released after posting bond.
