high school
#1
Are people out there aware of how awful the high school has become under the current administration? No respect for teachers, little respect for anything resembling an academic environment, obvious disregard for established practices that have worked well-the high school has become an exhibition ground for Hamlin's ego and, far worse, for the incompetence of the people he has hired, particularly in associate principals spots. Faculty moral is at an all-time low and probably won't improve as we undertake the move. What was the board thinking in hiring this man and his posse and passing over Molly Schaefer for a higher-level administrative position? This year is lost and next year will be, too-and maybe years after that. Ed Guerra doesn't look so bad, now-

I have heard nothing but bad things coming out of WHS. Ed Guerra was scary but you are right, based on what I have heard has happened this past year, he doesn't look so bad now. More fighting, shoving and general disrespect going on in the halls than ever before. Molly came in after my kids were out of WHS so I have no idea what her year was like. But, I have some friends and acquaintances with children at WHS and I am friends with a couple of teachers who are very vocal and upset with how things are over on Brookside Avenue. Teachers have told me and parents have observed how bad the morale is with teachers, staff and students; that teachers, staff and students are not shown any kind of respect & students have talked about the fact that they do not trust the incompetent administrative staff.

Teachers who made a difference in students' lives are leaving. And LC and the BOE are oblivious or are intentionally turning a blind eye to the entire mess that is going on at the high school. Hey, he is the hammer....and he will get your attention one way or the other. Why not, he keeps getting rewarded for his bad behavior.

But that is okay, right? We all had our chance to get new blood onto the BOE but chose to keep things as they were and kept the board we had. I can sleep well tonight knowing I did not vote to keep the past elected board.

With the SLC program coming in this next school year...the state takeover is not far behind.

The state is the only solution. The Board of Education and Lincoln Center can not hire competent administrators. This year is bad but next year is going to be worse. Sorry to be negative but the high school is such a mess it will take years to fix. Does anyone know where hamlin was during cap and gown distribution. Many issues came up but he was no where to be found. When the going gets rough he gets going.
