I was very pleased to hear the Board of Education voted the most logical of choices to head the district. I have a new found energy in this latest turn of events. I'm certain that I will not agree with all of his choices, but I believe they couldn't have elected a more thoughtful and compassionate person to represent our community better than he can. They have restored my faith, in this district, with this decision!

How can citizens who have been thru so much with this board and previous ones think that a new board president will make a difference? He wasn't elected board president by you. He was elected board president by the very same people that you are so happy are not the board president. We all know the way it works. He made deals with enough of the rest of the board to pull this off. His allegiance is to the board members that elected him, not to you or anyone else. The board president makes no decisions without the rest of the board. The direction and work product will stay the same because it's the same board as the previous one. The board president only has one vote just like everyone else. It makes no difference who the board president is.
The only thing that will make a difference is if all of you start asking detailed questions about everything and don't let them do anything except a great job for the school district. And if you do that it won't make a difference who the board president is or for that matter, who the board is.
The reason that this school district is so screwed up is essentially no one questions them about anything, no one follows up on anything and no one holds them accountable for anything. To get real change at the district, it's not the board president that needs to be changed, or the board that needs to be changed - it's the citizens of the district that need to really change and become involved on a continuing basis. It is not the job of the board to make sure that everything that should happen happens at the school district. That is our job!
Remember that Hawn spoke for the rest of the board, including Rodriquez when stating that "we" are behind Batiste 100% just after Batiste blamed the board.
See the following: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkkXGtdnXLY OR go to youtube and search on hawn batiste waukegan
Nothings changed except they sit in different seats and they've left you with the impression "that things are different now with Mr Rodriquez as the President of the board". IF anything is different it should be the realization that the rest of the board believes he is the most in tune with their way of doing things. I see that as bad news for the district.

I can only ask a question of someone that spews forth bile that nobody seems interested in, but certainly has a fondness of seeing his/her written word, "What seemingly meaningless thing could you possibly have going on today?" I love that quote from a dear old friend! It seems as though sour grapes is the mood from some. I choose to see this as a new chapter in the progress of our school system, good luck school board. Sorry I do not have a link for you to view, I'm not that sophisticated. Good luck District 60, we need it! .

Forum rules are to attack the post not the poster. Using the terms bile, imbeciles, morons and retards (in another post) is just really sad.
I described how most political boards work. The elected leader of a board is usually the person that most agrees with the most members of the board. In other words the lowest common demoninator. If the citizens are not interested enough to question why Batiste blames the board and not me, that is more a reflection on the sad state of affairs in Waukegan, IL. The citizens of Waukegan have been dissapointed again and again. This is not the time to fawn over the newly elected board that is the same as the old board that was fawned over at the last election. It's time to get much more involved and supervise everything that they do. My point was nothing will change until we the citizens change our level of involvement with this local unit of government. Again, in other words, it's our fault that things are not better at the school district. In this country we use words to resolve our disputes. This forum is one of the outlets for those words. And I wasn't telling you what to think, I think I was telling citizens to think about getting much more involved in what they are doing. Fawning over the individual board members or fawning over a slate hasn't helped the district progress and isn't thinking. The citizens need to think about thinking more about what the board is thinking.
For example, who was lying? Was it Mr. Hawn stating "we are behind him 100%" speaking for the entire board? Or was it Dr. Batiste blaming the entire board? I tried, I tried, I tried! Search on youtube by entering the following three terms - hawn batiste waukegan - to hear it for yourself. Think about that for example. What's going on with these people? I'm asking you to think about it and figure it out for yourself.

No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking. ~Voltaire
Too often we... enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought. ~John F. Kennedy
Physiological response to thinking and to pain is the same; and man is not given to hurting himself. ~Martin H. Fischer
What luck for rulers, that men do not think. ~Adolph Hitler
He who will not reason is a bigot; he who cannot is a fool; and he who dares not is a slave. ~William Drummond, Academical Questions
Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth, more than ruin, more even than death. Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man. ~Bertrand Russell

How dare someone suggest I would attack a post and not a poster!
No need to describe an opinion that nobody shares, about how one thinks political boards work, or how he/she also thinks how it "usually" works.
Suck it up and drive on. Evidently, the answer was no. File your suits, etc. thats why we have an attorney that represents WPS60. Please do not beat that poor decaying horse you have mercilessly been battering with reckless abandon. We have heard you. If there is merit, the courts will decide. Good luck school board! And I thought I was a pain in the ass!
Airborne!

Batiste blaming the board for his crimes, stating "I tried" while hawn states the exact opposite. I'll stick with it but thanks all the same.

As the board, board attorney and senior administration know by now, I'm not going away. It's called seeking justice. And like it or not there is something called the first amendment. The attorney doesn't represent the district, he represents Deputy Superintendent Jules Gaudin or at least that's what Jules Gaudin told me.
