We all have many hopes for Waukegan. I grew up here. I want this to be a cool safe place for my children to grow up in. I don't know much about Bob's past but I'll find out what I can. I wish him all the best for all of our sakes.
I had a chance to hear what Bob said at the CREW evening and at the debate. Several items remain with me;
-He said that 'code compliance must be accomplished with ruthless efficiency.' He shared the affects that our over-crowdedness has on our schools and neighborhood qualities. Finally the bottom line was safety. I hope he follows through with this.
-Bob said no casino. That the lakefront should have industry and homes/other businesses.
-Need to put a professional face on government to attract businesses.
-Bob mentioned Wriglyville numerous times -that we could be like that. That we must attract the young. And make CLC a four year college.
-He would have the reputation of cracking down on gangs.
-Told a tale of a jurist once who was warned not to have lunch in downtown Waukegan as it was dangerous. Go to Gurnee...
-Would revisit the car confiscations as it is against a certain segment. But realizes that there should be a disincentive for DUI's and no insurance.
-County pays $8 million for Waukegan's health needs.
-Believes mayor should visit every school and crack down on overcrowding.
-He would not support any initiative that targets those not hurting us. Not for 287g.

Here's a link to CREW's evening with Bob to learn more about our new mayor.
