Be careful for what you wish for

Was Sabonjian winning more that the people wanted him or the people wanted Hyde out so much?

You think that the current administration looked the other way as the illegals poured into Waukegan? Now they have a friend at the top.
At heart we all know that Sabonjian is a bleeding heart democrat. Hyde was more of a blue dog dem, now the illegals will have a field day.
Sabonjian will do away with the $500 tow charge, he said he is considering doing away with 287g.
Why would ANYONE want to do away with 287g?
You think this town was bad now, just wait.
Not that I wanted to keep Hyde at all, it's just we had really poor choices. Bad or worse, now we have worse.

Ask Mayor Hyde why he withdrew the 287g application.

Sabonjian's win is getting big press because of his Hispanic support, but for myself and many others his other positions are what got my vote.

I'm wondering too. Will similar stances also carry over to housing code enforcement?
Do we really want the housing in this city to become an overcrowded mishmash of trashy run-down favelas?

If the mayor takes action in a detrimental fashion, I suppose it will be a matter of bringing it before the aldermen or perhaps demanding for some types of enforcement at the county level.

As for the traffic laws, those laws were put into place because of too many hit and run incidents and people without licences double parking or whatever. It's all fun and games until your car gets hit by someone without any insurance or registration or until an unlicenced driver parks his rusty hoopdy in front of your drive or in the middle of your street blocking you from going anywhere. It's bad enough they don't bother with the existing alternate parking ordinance and the narrow streets are bottlenecked, now imagine some unlicensed clown double parking in those areas.

What do you mean, "become?" Have you looked around the neighborhoods? I have Mexicans living on either side of me, and their yards are neat and tidy. However, the slobs that live on the back side of my yard are as white as can be, and have nothing but trash strewn all over their yard. The guy who owns it parks earth moving equipment in the driveway. Occasionally it's a small tanker truck.

The problem with the code enforcement in this city is the arbitrary way in which they choose who to enforce it against.

Of course (duh) there is a lot more to Bob Sabonjian than immigration. It is a shame that the press and Hyde's supporters are using the latino support of Sabonjian in an attempt to undermine his victory. It is a feeble attempt by desperate people of ersatz intelligence...
The Sabonjian win is not just a win by/for the latino population; it is a win by/for every demographic group that voted for him; one look at the precinct stats will give you all the evidence you need. Bob's campaign volunteers ranged from age 8 to 88, with a broad spectrum of occupations, races and religions. Just to remind you...on this very web site a few months back Bob's supporters were criticized for being elitist newcomers; now they are criticized for being latino's. One wonders who will be next, Bobs elderly supporters perhaps?

It wasn't "Bobs' supporters". IT was the uppity clique that only supported him after Wakefield fizzled out

I understand a candidate has to shake a lot of hands to get elected. I don't begrudge him trying to appeal to the Hispanic population here. I don't begrudge any legal Hispanics in the city. I know many keep their yards nice and are productive members of society, I also know there are many whites who are dregs on society.

This isn't about Hispanic or white or black. It's about legal v illegal. The illegals are killing this town, they are killing large segments of this country. They are killing our health care and our school systems and they are despite what the pro illegal crowd will tell you they are taking jobs from American citizens. No longer is it the jobs nobody wants.

I severely reject his notion to stop the towing ordinance and especially to withdraw the 287g application. That is just wrong. Anyone who would not be in vigorous favor of 287g is not a friend to American citizens.

The insurance seizure ordinance was created to provide revenue for the city and kickback from the towing companies to certain mobster like connected people..
