Thanks kelly. I will be watching these. I always usually go to the debates and forums but could not make this one.

A local Waukeganite posted this statement below at another site. Was the impression given at the debates in any way shape or form as to what the poster implies?

** URGENT** WAUKEGAN VOTE: SABONJIAN (MAYOR),FOLEY(PARK) & "ANITA HANNA"SCHOOL BOARD ELSE "BYE-BYE BILINGUAL PROGRAM

!!!??URGENT ! URGENT !!!?--VOTE?TUESDAY !!?election day
I AM SENDING THIS TO 500 EMAIL CONTACTS - SO CAN YOU
?BOB SABONJIAN-MAYOR?-WAUKEGAN?INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE
??????????????????????????????? (esta en contra de?287g) [he's against 287g]
ANITA HANNA -WAUKEGAN SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATE
?#1 & ONLY SUPPORTER OF?OUR BILINGUAL PROGRAM & HISPANIC CHILDREN'S EDUCATION.? WE NEED TO GET HER RE-ELECTED.We better get out the vote big time? Tony Elam stated last night, "we started 3 years removing people(MINORITIES) and on Tuesday we can finish the job" The district is 71% minority and there will be NO representation there for our children . They are only concerned with CSP and their children which is not a lot of them, DR. BATISTA WILL BE GONE INCLUDING THE BILINGUAL PROGRAM. THEY WOULD RATHER REFUSE THE MONEY AND REMOVE THE PROGRAM???
?ALSO URGENT TO GET "PAT FOLEY" RE-ELECTED FOR PARK DISTRICT?
SHE IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE THAT IS A SUPPORTER OF THE DESPERATELY NEEDED ?SOCCER/FUTBOL COMPLEX,
?HER OPPONENTS?WILL ELIMINATE IT/ ARE AGAINST IT & SUPPORT?GOLF COURSE?
??????????????????????????

The main reason we taped the forum is to enable more people in the community to educate themselves with the candidates before going to the polls. When an individual(s) distorts the content the videos take on another critical role - accurate documentation. I would encourage voters who were unable to attend the forum to watch the videos. Perhaps someone could post the links to the videos wherever it was that you saw these distortions posted. (I'd do it myself, but as Kelly can confirm: technology is NOT my forte!)

As far as the comments made by this unknown individual, which in my opinion gives a pretty good glimpse of their agenda, I will say
a) The "change" that Tony Elam was referring to had nothing to do with ethnicity and everything to do with ethics and professional , accountable leadership
b) Whatever the outcome on Tuesday, Rita Mayfield-Jedkins and Sonny Garza will remain as board members - quelling the absence of minorities threat
c) The bilingual program is alive and well and not going anyhere - the fact is it is the 3 board members elected 2 years ago are the one who have led the efforts
for improved bilingual education - the purpose of which is to transitions Spanish speaking students to English in a successful manner. I have seen Ms.
Hanna champion many causes over the years, but bilingual education was not one of them.
d) CSP is a valuable and sucessful program that is open to all students willing to put forth the effort - ethnicity is not an issue here either.
e) It's disappointing that some people persist trying to use race/ethnicity as a smoke screen for the real issues. I hope someday we'll move beyond that.

After going to the google link in the above post and seeing the profile of who posted that information, I am not surprised by who it is who put that out there. What a "Fiasco."

The words in parentheses are hers. That candidate wasn't speaking code or implying anything else. Thank god for that video tape.

Excellent post jspeak. Thank you.

I almost apologize for bringing the post here -but it needed to be cleared up. And I agree. It is a disappointment that race/ethnicity is thrown into this issue and NOT what is best for our kids.

Here is an older post one can view. The previous poster pushed for Ms. Hanna a year ago as well.

Thanks for posting these. I'm half way through video #9. There were some unusual avoidance techniques when it came to the incumbents answering questions regarding administrative salary/position cuts and salary caps. Back to the movies Wink

Thanks to COSLA for having the forum and Kelly Ann for the video. The videos helped in remembering things that were said by candidates. Your efforts are appreciated. Great job everyone.

I watched all of the videos. Just flipped through and saw 5 people had viewed number 12 of 14. It is a real shame we do not educate voters, I partially blame those seeking elected office, mostly voters. I often wonder how many will search through the list of names and vote for the most recognizable or "written word friendly". Unforunately, most voters are ignorant in the greatest nation on Earth! This information was invaluable to me, I saw both articulate speakers and not so well versed. To bad many will not see the great information that Kelly and Jane and COSLA provided!
