That was a classic response. You have said some things in your earlier posts that provoked thoughts with me. I'll respond. You are right. Though this is not Mayor Hyde's day to day duties to clean up, enforce codes. etc. It does fall upon his watch. Inevitably, how Waukegan is perceived throughout Lake County, falls upon his shoulders. The pictures you have displayed are deplorable. This is not something I would have seen in the Waukegan I was born and raised in. I do not blame this in the change of demographics, rather the change of mentality that has overcome the blue collar town of my youth. We once took great pride in everything we touched; somewhere that was lost. We now invite basketball teams from Lake Forest and Warren into this mess? We can't applaud a State Champion Rifle Squad that represents our knowing that Waukegan is great?
I do not blame our demographics, but blame the lack of leading by example.
This thought provoking you have done affects me on how to proceed within my own employment. If I am going to be responsible for the acts of 4 or 5 people, they had better be able to perform at their expected level, or find themselves cluttering up their front lawn?

The graffiti is inexusable.

However, our city has been covered with several inches of snow until just recently. How much of this litter accumlulated during the winter and is just now being revealed? Also, have these pictures been sent to the city for a response?

I agree, it's all the snow's fault. You see that same thing all over Kenosha and Lake Villa.

I have told both the Mayor and the entire city council many many times that there is a graffiti problem in my neighborhood and they have FAILED to effectively do anything about it. I have also told the mayor and the entire city council to assume I have informed them on a weekly basis of a problem with people littering in and around my yard. Again ZIPPOLA...complete and utter FAILURE.

I've lived here for almost 52 years. The Hyde years have by far been the worse... even worse than the Durkin years. It's such a shame that Hyde truly just doesn't give a damn about this city and has failed as no one else could have.
