Again, Harold, I thank you for the supportive compliments....would that you were on the school board! I have applied for vacant teaching positions in District 60 multiple times in each of the past thirteen years that I have lived here. I know that I'm 'overqualified', (if it is possible to be overqualified to teach children these days!), and professionally intimidating. Then there was the time I applied for a position in a school in my neighborhood. (There is much truth in the adadge that it takes a community to raise a child. Not only have I taught some of the parents of the children in this particular school, but I see them every Sunday at Mass, and we obviously see each other in the neighborhood. We have cultivated a multigenerational raport that would benefit the child's school experiences.) I was not hired for the position. A non-certified person was hired for the job because they speak Spanish. And to answer the obvious question; no, it was not an ESL or language sheltered classroom.
