Hey BD...

It did seem that way. Hard to understand...how can Wkgn keep and even add more police when the city is so broke? No one here is denying that Wkgn is broke. So an idea would be to look for special funding, based upon our city's significant gang problem and struggles with violent crime. From the Fed, as the State of Illinois is even more broke than Wkgn.

Now it all causes one to pause and say "How come Wkgn is so broke? How come Illinois is so broke?"

Hmmmmm. Well, news report after news reporth has called Illinois one of the most politically corrupt states in the USA. Look at BLAGO...running around everywhere again, denying his guilt. Every time he makes an appearance on any media outlet, always introduced with Illinois in there somewhere. "Rod Blagojevich, the disgraced fomer Governor of Illinois." "Rod Blagojevich, the impeached ex-Governor of Illinois."

Then we wonder why many business people steer clear of Illinois!! Because they do not want to deal with the kind of political culture that produced a Rod Blagojevich that still exists in Illinois. From the State House to the City Hall, Illinois is chalk full of
politicians who have their hand out and lots of room in their pockets.

Same deal with Waukegan in the past. And now SUPRISE, we are broke!

So much of Illinois' and Wkgn's economic and development roles have to do with how mostly corrupt the entire political/leadership elites govern here. Govern mostly for Themselves, the rest of us can just go "eat cake."

That's the way it is, and it ain't gonna change anytime soon. So get used to it...no money for police or much of anything else to serve the public's interest.

Just too many political interests that need to be served first, foremost and always.

This type of corruption will exist as long as the system stays the same. The faces may change and the degree may change but there will always be some level corruption, not just in Illinois but everywhere. The system guarantees it. It's not good. I used to put a lot of blame on the people for not speaking out against these kind of things for we are the ultimate check and balance. But we the people shouldn't be blamed if we are unaware or have been lied to concerning the the true causes of corruption, but we now have a better understanding of the issue. It's is time to spread the word and begin to speak out against it. This will be difficult because there will be efforts to preseve the status quo. There are already mechanisms in place that prevent such change from happening, such as a divide and conquer stategy. We are very divided now. Also, don't forget, we ARE indoctrinated, each one of us, to accept some degree of corruption. Corruption permeates our system. It is not surprising to me a bit that it would occur in politics. it is very predictable and the causes do not originate in "human nature" but in environment. Blago was doing EXACTLY what he was TAUGHT to do.

Why is the city broke? I'll bet the corruption that went on during the Genesee Theater project is partly responsible. There is evidence of that corruption in plain sight.
