Did anyone read the News-Sun article today on the School Board toying with the idea of school uniforms. I think it's a great idea. It would be good for so many reasons. My problem is what the school board president said. School Board President Rodriguez stated that the current dress code policy "needs to be enforced more effectively." My question to him would be how. As an employee of the district for years I remember last year how the admin couldn't even control the cellphones or I-Pod usage by the students without getting cussed out or in a confrontation with the students. So what did the board do this year they changed the policy allowing kids to have cellphones and I-Pod's in school and able to use them during passing periods. They knew they were fighting a losing battle. There was no way to control that and there's no way to control this. So how the heck are you going to enforce this. Wake up your not, unless you start handing out suspensions to those who don't comply. The admin. and school board does not have the Ba**s to do it. With the high suspension rate already as it is, this would only make those numbers sky rocket. Not to mention the complaints coming in from parents on how their picking on my child. SCHOOL BOARD THIS IS A BATTLE YOU WILL LOSE. However if you went to a school uniform like the middle schools we wouldn't be having this conversation would we. I believe the Board has more pressing issues to deal with concerning students then trying to enforce something they can't. I have a list if you want to hear it.
