My gut is telling me that we are going to have bupkes left in our schools....I think the district is using fear tactics to do its best to go after personnel and programs they don't want. I am willing to lay money down that Project Discovery and GAP will be going away if the district can make it happen. A lame rationale will be presented, and this board not being ones to question will defer to the short-sighted and warped logic of the administration. Think distributing the smart kids around the rest of the district to their "home schools" is really going to salvage the pathetic test scores at these places? Think again. The way averaging works, the high end scores always get swallowed up once due to the overwhelming number at the bottom. The tiny percentage of smart kids won't change the outcome for these schools and the stellar programs the district once had to offer will be a thing of the past. The parents of PD and GAP kids better get dialed-in quick if they want to save these programs - they are the last things keeping the smallest sliver of middle class families here.
Mike Rodriguez should pay a little visit to Dr. Lamping and find out what's being considered for these programs before the board is blindsided by a bunch of information they don't have the time to process before they vote on the matter. It would be ideal if he can stop this in its tracks.
Guess what.....job fairs are scheduled to try to recruit rookie teachers to fill the vacancies. Can you say "slap in the face"?
