Why's he doing it?

Our country's value lies in the innovation of our entrepreneurs and the traditional work ethic, and goodness, of our nation's people. If socialism is so great, then why is the United States still the most innovative, entrepreneurial, benevolent nation in the history of the world? You have a computer, type your questions in a search engine. The information is there, for all to read. xoxoxoxo
"if it sounds too good to be true then it surely is" in the correct context that is equivalent to saying "our system is so full of corruption and greed that you can't trust anyone".

The idea that the prospect of monetary gain is the spark that ignites innovation is a huge fallacy. Innovation is not a function of monetary gain. Incentive in not a function of monetary gain. Benevolence is not a function of monetary gain. Most of the great innovators of human history did so for reasons other than monetary gain.

The innovation that is driven solely by monetary gain gives us the Salad Shooter.

To say that the highest motivating factor for human innovation is simply due to monetary gain is a very negative view of humankind.
