Excellent article, Danno. Really a modern day restatement of the basic premise in Lincoln's reknown "House Divided Speech" delivered in Springfield, IL
on June 16, 1858 as a candidate running for the U S Senate "..a house divided against itself cannot stand."
Of course, Lincoln was paraphrasing Jesus in Luke 11:17 which reads..
"But He knew their thoughts and said to them,
Any kingdom divided against itself is laid to waste; for a house divided against itself falls."
Polarization as extreme as we see in the USA today is profound division, and from such profound division, no good can come of it.
Only failure.
