Are red light cameras a public safety danger?
#2
Maybe we ought to put a camera up the congressmans sleeve so we can catch him taking the bribe to change the law to make a moving violation, running a red light, into a non moving violation in order to circumvent the Bill of Rights. This is the mechanism that allows such abuse to take place for it allows them to fine the registered owner of the car instead of the person who may have committed the violation. I think there still is a violation of due process rights. This is a good example of what I call the dark side of capitalism. This being a for profit entity in association with the power of government in order to take advantage of innocent peoples driving habits. The movie they like to show, the one of the car completely blowing through the red light while cross traffic flows narrowly missing each other, has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on reality in terms of preventative aspects of this type of enforcement. That type of occurance takes place because the person, for a multitude of reasons, is not paying attention while driving. They'd do better banning eating while driving, cell phones and car radios. The people who operate these red light camera businesses must know that the red light cams will have negligible effect of reducing the number of those who completely and obliviously blow through a red light. They also know they will make tons of easy money from people who cheat the light by one second or don't come to an absolute still stop on a right turn on red. Greedy despicable bastards, both the politicians who voted in favor of it and business owners... all of them. I don't trust government and I trust greedy businesses even less. What will these money grubbing companies do to increase profits when most people get used to new driving habits? Why not just make everything illegal and fine everyone and be done with it.
