The 25-year-old man accused of trying to kidnap a 10-year-old girl to have sex with is now said to have prowled the halls of Miguel Juarez Middle School in Waukegan the same day on the hunt for a victim.
Danny Carbajal of Waukegan is charged with aggravated kidnapping and attempted predatory criminal sexual assault. The kidnapping charge carries a potential sentence up to 30 years in prison, and the sex charge is punishable up to 15 years in prison.

Assistant State's Attorney Bodie Haxall argued at a hearing Monday to admit two separate incidents involving the Carbajal that establish his intent and motive to have sex with a child.
Carbajal allegedly made suggestive, graphic statements to a 12-year-old girl at a public laundry a few days before the alleged kidnapping attempt. He is also accused of entering the halls of a middle school the same day he tried to kidnap the 10-year-old, Haxall said.
Miguel Juarez Middle School students can testify to seeing Carbajal in the school hallways, Haxall said, calling these acts "relevant" and asserting they demonstrated Carbajal's intent and motive to have sex with a child.
Carbajal's attorney, public defender Cynthia Pruim Haran, argued against allowing a jury to hear the testimony, saying the additional incidents will cause jurors to make a "snap decision" about her client. She argued that the "severe allegations" would create prejudice for the jury.
Judge Christopher Stride will rule on the motion March 5. Carbajal's trial is scheduled to begin April 12.
