I actually preferred this years opening day at the theatre to past events. The guest speaker will be a nice asset to the HS.

I was a little surprised that a 'schooling' was given to those of us that visit this web sight, and those of us that have called Dr. B. and questioned building/district policy or (God forbid) filed a grievance based on what Dr. Batiste coined as our personal rights......"Sometimes you need to set aside your "personal rights" (ie...union rights, IMO) if it's in the best interests of the students". Nice thought. Problem is, most dedicated employees with many years vested in this district often silently forgo our "personal rights", and have done so for many years. Show us by example, Dr. B. How about you give up some of your personal rights, like the perks in your contract that cost the district an arm and a leg, and we'll all follow by example. If your contract was violated Dr. B., would you not complain? 'Nuf said. It's like beating a dead horse.

May I wish all that read and post here, employee, parent, and interested taxpayer, a wonderful school year. I will again enter into the new school year with the highest of hopes to help my district, building, and most importantly every student I can, to achievement their highest goals and reach far beyond.

Good luck everyone Smile .
