Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated. I had already looked at the North Shore Line web site - interesting, but it didn't give me the information I was looking for.
With some more Googling, I eventually found this schematic of the trolley routes in Waukegan:

I have been able to compare this with a present day street map. It seems unlikely that any tracks would have survived to today, as all the streets covered are fairly major roads. But if anyone knows of anywhere where tracks are still visible, I'd love to know about it.
