Well said veryconcerned!
No about the tenured issue! Lol! Yes, there are several teachers who are burned out and need to go! I know, I work with several! However, teachers need tenured as protection! As someone else stated, many teachers are afraid to voice their opinion when they are not tenured, being afraid of being dismissed! However, many teachers earn the tenured status! Even the burn outs earned it, the Principal must thought so when they granted it to them! This willbe my 2nd year with tenure and I don't plan on being burned out as these other teachers are! Even though a teacher has tenure, this doesn't fully protect them, doesn't allow them freedom to do whatever! Principals can get these teachers out if they put in the effort! As a tenured teacher, I would be willing to sacrifice my tenure each year if they up the pay! Yeah, yeah, it's not about the money, but if they got rid of tenure and increase the pay more between school years, I am pretty sure teachers will work harder!
But for those who feel teachers aren't working hard enough, please remember, there are many teachers who are working really hard! There are teachers throughout the district at all levels, at all subjects core and not, that are working very hard!! There are those who try to make your children successful and those who do care about them and the city of Waukegan!!
