Just to clarify Fintan's comments: a group of us in the 6th ward (pink, black, latino, Irish, polish, swahili - wait, who cares what ethnic group) met on labor day to discuss the future of Waukegan. Out of that meeting came the idea of meeting with all the candidates. Further discussions lead to CREW. At the time, Chris Wakefield was in the race and I am personally saddened that he was unable to continue for health reasons. In the meantime, Bob Sabonjian decided to run. No one asked him to run: he is a big boy and made the decision all on his own. From there, each and every one of us made our own decision who to vote for in the mayoral election. No conspiracy theory, no latino mob influence, no nepotism, no back-room dealings between Wakefield, Sabonjian and Fintan, just good old-fashioned democracy at work.
