I almost apologize for bringing the post here -but it needed to be cleared up. And I agree. It is a disappointment that race/ethnicity is thrown into this issue and NOT what is best for our kids.

Who always supported us in the Latino community
Waukegan Public School District 60 serves approximately 17,000
students in grades kindergarten through twelve. Located on Lake
Michigan just south of the Wisconsin border, District 60 is composed
of 24 individual schools, including 3 preschool sites, 1 kindergarten
center, 14 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 1 high school
composed of a ninth grade center, and a 10 â 12th upper grade center.
Additionally, there is an alternative type high school program that
operates several programs leading to a high school diploma. The
student body of the district is rich in diversity with most of our
students being Hispanic (70%), 22% African-American, 7% Caucasian, and
1% of other ethnic groups.
