Words Of Wisdom From Thomas Sowell

“A society can be made ungovernable by the impossibility of satisfying those with a passionate sense of entitlement—and without the skills or diligence to create the national wealth from which to redeem these expectations. The role of soft-subject intellectuals—notably professors and schoolteachers—in fermenting internal strife and separatism, from the Basques in Spain to the French in Canada, adds another set of dangers of political instability from schooling without skills.” --Thomas Sowell, Race and Culture.

Maybe this writer should take a lesson or two from the intellectuals attempting to bash. I believe the correct word would be "fomenting" not "fermenting" but I'm sure my strategery will be misunderestimated and refudiated by the likes of Sarah Palin or G-dub

Relax, it's a typo in the quote.

Even better in context. Stay ignorant as to not upset the status quo? The right wing sure is doing a good job with that.

Yes, our current system is highly dependent on peons and sheep. It's not at all surprising to me that the research for this book started in the early 1970's, a time when the status quo was shaken to it's core the entire previous decade.

I can only surmise that the two of you didn't bother to read the entire section, proceeding the quote, from the link that Kellyann1293 provided for you. But why should you waste your time with mere statistics? You haven't let the truth cloud your judgement thus far. I'm going to pray that the both of you find the truth someday. Do yourselves a favor and read up on Thomas Sowell. Thank you Kellyann1293, I was not aware of the google books research tool. I am going to find that resource very useful in the future. Thank you for your thoughtful reply.

I appreciate your prayers... Im sure your God will show me the way to a laissez-faire capitalistic utopia where the pinnacle of human advancement is measured by economic development. I read your post, I read the paragraph you quoted from, but I don't need to read the entire book to understand Sowell's message. I just don't agree with his ideas, must be from those days in university being brainwashed by all those progressives.
