So I come back today and find this comment.

"Oh come on now. They don't get rid of Graffiti. They paint over it with white paint and not very good either. Thank them for their "service". You've got to be kidding. The city is full of litter and I don't see them doing one thing to help. Friends and favors jobs and gift jobs are what they had - - Thank them. Ha! They already suck down twice as many tax dollars as they should. They should be thanking us for not canning them years ago. Good riddance I say".

How insensitive Mr. or who ever you are. Two things:

1-You should purge your mind from speaking such words.
2-This is the very attitude that got our country here in the first place.

I mean like, how would you even know anyway? To be chummed up with the "big wigs" and sipping lates is probably alot more comfortable then picking paper and taking care of uncared for distressed properties enduring climatic uncertainties would you say not? Now mind you , readers, if you have not read my post......there where hints left so there just might be some merrit in my words.

As for the comment in quotes above.....the thought is this:

Never wish /speak bad luck on any human...or human look alike (lol).

Reasons being:

You cant forget that you have family and extended family / loved ones /yourself. Do you realize that by speaking words of this nature (it) may have already set forth some bad luck or mishap? Thats why one should never speak in this manner, ever!

(For clarity purposes: the yin and the yang, Karma, the "good books" teachings..etc) it really doesn't matter what you beleave in but hopefully my point is well taken! For those movie lovers...FINAL DESTINATION (to get more detail please visite your local movie rental facility)

Now, I did mention in my prior post that this will be written under friendly fire / by the rules of this bloging software and user agreement.....So I ask on behalf of the owners that all be nice. And besides, If one truly beleaves these things mentioned in quotes above...they would be better off not letting anyone on this planet know that such words could possibly cross their lips.....let alone through the key pad to leave a digital imprint. I mean like, Come on now!

In closing I just want to wish all of you that are affected the best. As for the quotes at the begining of this post, may the author of those words be well.

Was that absolutely necessary?

1. Thanks Admin; appreciate the back-up.
2. Frank; cool it. Let's be rational here.

Since my post seems to have created much "constipation" here, let me expand...

A. The particular group I'm lauding here aren't politically connected, and ask anyone who drives down Genesee Street enjoying the simple decorations how nice it looks, especially when the flowers are in full bloom or the snow has covered the white twinkle lights; it's lovely...you can't argue with that.

B. I also know the crew who works on the graffeti clean-up can't keep up with all of the requests they receive; do you KNOW how much spraypaint has murdered these poor storefronts, signage and AT&T boxes? I know this particular crew will try and clean up the spraypaint even before it's reported and before a work ticket has been created. Is it a perfect system...no. Are these men trying to keep up with the demand for their services? ABSOLUTELY.
I sure hope the knuckleheads who deface all this property don't hear that this crew is on their way out; they will have a FIELD DAY!

...oh, and Frank..."If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Progress won't happen if we all think like you.

Grover,
I'm with you! I frequently take drives down Genesee Street - just to see that its still there. And I do appreciate that its kept looking nice - and seasonal. The flowers & lights are a welcome sight!
We should be concerned in keeping our downtown area clean & nice -- its the ONLY way to attract new businesses & bring in people who will spend money.
It is in the interest of all Waukegan residents to have a clean, graffiti free, inviting downtown area.
Come on, lets all do our part!

Layoffs are always sad especially in this economy. But the private sector has been laying off folks alot lately so there is no reason to be surprised the public sector would also. Every job executive, factory worker, graffiti cleanup and police officer are equally important to the family they support. Hope everybody affected can find another job sooner than later.

Sorry folks, I can't respond. I just went for a drive down Genesee St. and I've been left speechless by it's magnificent beauty.
