CREW and the Waukegan Mayoral Race

As the candidate field expands I want to know as much as I can about where they want to take this city. The right person could really change this around. The candidates have been very different so far.

We have to all become involved and vote in this primary or one or two candidates might sneak through by default that would not be good for this city.

Looks like they are setting up a meeting with Eddie -that should be really interesting to attend.

I'll be open to what they have to say as I want THE best candidate for our mayor and they have information. The final choice is ultimately mine.

Can someone tell me where CREW has provided ANY information about or from ANY candidate?

We have interviewed all the mayoral candidates, with the exception of the mayor. We are also trying to meet with Eddie Washington this week. In the process of these interviews we have gathered information regarding the candidates views on a variety of important issues pertaining to Waukegan (with the exception of snow removal, which we believe, as an issue, will probably not tip the balance of the election). We have audio of these interviews for CREW members, and once we have made a decision we will throw ourselves fully behind a candidate, to get the word/information out.

Why not just make the audio recordings available for all to hear? That would be the best way to disseminate information to the electorate. You all can still decide which candidate you want to support.

That is not a bad idea, however, out of fairness to all the candidates the audio should be withheld until the interviews are completed. CREW members will review the interviews as part of the decision-making process.

If CREW really wished to widely disseminate the candidate positions on issues affecting Waukegan, they should hold a public forum for all the candidate or allowed the public to attend the inteview sessions. CREW's whole process is all about CREW making themselves important, which will result in making themselve impotent, electorally speaking.

Once again, I'm slightly confused as to who you think CREW are. CREW are members of the public: they are residents of Waukegan like me and you, and come in all shapes, sizes, ages, religious backgrounds and political preferences. Anyone can attend our interviews, including yourself. We debated whether to hold a forum with all the candidates but logistically this proved too difficult.

Well, by the pie chart, it looks like MOST are residents. 15% are either non-residents or "Unknown". Since the chart covers 0-over 30 years, and non-residents, how can there be unknowns? :o
