Michael Rodriguez voted President of the Board

Tried to congratulate on this thread, not turn it into a personal battle. But, in order to remain Snoopy, here goes.

"This is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." Winston Churchhill

Are you a Waukegan voter? Do you pay taxes to the WPS60? Are any of your children attending Waukegan Schools?
Just curious. This would be like me debating who I should support for Mayor of Highland Park, if you are not Waukegan Schools proper.

freedomisntfree Wrote:How can citizens who have been thru so much with this board and previous ones think that a new board president will make a difference? He wasn't elected board president by you. He was elected board president by the very same people that you are so happy are not the board president. We all know the way it works. He made deals with enough of the rest of the board to pull this off. His allegiance is to the board members that elected him, not to you or anyone else. The board president makes no decisions without the rest of the board. The direction and work product will stay the same because it's the same board as the previous one. The board president only has one vote just like everyone else. It makes no difference who the board president is.

The only thing that will make a difference is if all of you start asking detailed questions about everything and don't let them do anything except a great job for the school district. And if you do that it won't make a difference who the board president is or for that matter, who the board is.

The reason that this school district is so screwed up is essentially no one questions them about anything, no one follows up on anything and no one holds them accountable for anything. To get real change at the district, it's not the board president that needs to be changed, or the board that needs to be changed - it's the citizens of the district that need to really change and become involved on a continuing basis. It is not the job of the board to make sure that everything that should happen happens at the school district. That is our job!

Remember that Hawn spoke for the rest of the board, including Rodriquez when stating that "we" are behind Batiste 100% just after Batiste blamed the board.
See the following: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkkXGtdnXLY OR go to youtube and search on hawn batiste waukegan

Nothings changed except they sit in different seats and they've left you with the impression "that things are different now with Mr Rodriquez as the President of the board". IF anything is different it should be the realization that the rest of the board believes he is the most in tune with their way of doing things. I see that as bad news for the district.

I stand by what I originally stated

A while ago, but's it's a little more complicated than that. For example, I might just have several residences, including the old one. I also spent last summer on a Wisconsin lake, this winter, a month in Florida, then a month in Utah, and several weeks each in other places all around the country. And I'm already travelling this year to different locations.
