Waukegan Symphony Orchestra will kick off its 2008-2009 season devoted to music featuring the Four Elements: Water, Earth, Fire & Air on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. The performance will be held in the Trapp Auditorium, located within the Waukegan High School Brookside Campus at 2325 W. Brookside Ave. in Waukegan.
The featured element of this first concert will be water, and will include works by Smetana (The Moldau), Handel (Water Music), Mendelssohn (The Prosperous Voyage), Telemann (Water Music) and contemporary composers' compilation of a Rainy Day Medley.
Tickets are $15.00 for adults, $12.00 for seniors/military, students with I.D. and children under 18 are free. Children under 12 should be accompanied by a responsible adult. Tickets are available by calling the Jack Benny Center for the Performing Arts at 847-360-4740, or at the door. Better yet, if you know someone who plays with the group, don't be shy; contact them and let them know you're interested in attending. They'll see that you're well taken care of.
There is hardly a better way to spend a late Sunday afternoon than by listening to some fabulous live music performed by talented community members. You'll be glad you made the effort.
