I think the Republicans will take the House, but they will soon find themselves in the same position as the Democrats did in their town hall meetings over the healthcare bill. We(the teaparty people) are not blind loyalists, we want results now. And if the next crop of representatives doesn't get it we will work to turn them over two years hence. I will, however, put my money on the integrity of House member Paul Ryan. God bless America
Promising To Suck Less, The House GOP Nukes The Tea Party Fridge

We have been made to suffer a steady erosion of American values and traditions and beliefs in recent years through the actions of our Political Heroes, the pace having logarithmically quickened during the last two of the Bush presidency.
Conservatives grew weary of the GOP moderates. The GOP moderates grew lazy and boorish and tiresome as they set about becoming Democrat-lite looking for evermore creative ways to bloat the Federal government and cling desperately to a power that was already clearly slipping through their fingertips.
Having provided much of the Conservative base (and most of the Independents) with sufficient disappointment to defer control of American governance to the Democrats, the GOP took to the wilderness. They told us they heard us after the bloodbath in â06, they assured us theyâd learned their lesson after the embarrassment in â08, and they promised they would fight to win back our trust and instill in us, once again, that confidence we once had in them that they had squandered with such reckless abandon.
They lied.
Democrats rose to power, in part because they âsucked lessâ than Republicans back thenâ¦at least they were able to effectively make that case to the American peopleâ¦while the GOP was busying itself with remaining in power by being better Democrats than the Democrats. Couple these with that whole âChimpyMcBushHitlerâ¢â thing that got all the peaceniks fired up, and the result was a loss of the House and the Senate, and ultimately the White House itself.
Today, we find ourselves on the opposite side of that conundrum; Republicans, and this nonsensical âPledge To Americaâ theyâve come up with (set to be formally announced and released in a hardware store in Virginia), essentially promise to go forth and âsuck lessâ than Democrats. This approach to a promised method of governance is not a good long-term strategy. Trying to convince us that they have heard our anger, feel our pain, understand our frustration, and share our goals is an embarrassment among reasoned and reasonable men. It might be sufficient to return them to the Majorityâ¦for now⦠but it fails in every way to prove that their time in the wilderness taught them anything.
The âPledgeâ itself is 21 pages long (48 if you get the fancy schmancy pdf from the GOP printer dudes) and is filled with thousands of words of campaign rhetoric and fluff and speaks to an audience that was never listening. The people the GOP needs to get through to are looking for real, foundational change. Those people already HAD a manifesto called the Contract from America that is 600 words long, has 10 simple bullets, and brings with it the true voice of an America that will be waiting for these people in the voting booth on November. THESE are the people the House GOP Leaders should have been focused on, yet they are the very ones Boehner & Co. talks completely OVER with this mess.
The Tea Party movement has proven that the American people can peaceably rise up against their Government and demand change. Having moved on from their protest signs and IN to campaign offices, the Tea Partyâ¦and thousands of everyday American citizensâ¦are starting to get the attention of the entrenched ruling class elites. Some have responded by vilifying, attacking, and mocking-denigrating them at every turn where facts can be set aside in the name of rhetoric and hyperbole.
Others, mostly Republicans, have found themselves on bended knee where they see that dollars can be raised and doormats can be stood upon in the interest of getting out their message and getting them sworn in to office. Tea Partiers are smarter than that, and those of us that stand with them are too. Weâve just run out of time to completely cull Congress of the dreck and the drivel that fills its chambers before the 2010 midterms. But make no mistake, we arenât going awayâ¦only redoubling our efforts to undo the mess of the last 4years.
The takeaway from this pledge is simple enough; itâs a start, but itâs no where near enough and comes far too late to save the long-term career aspirations of those who would be our âleadersâ over the longer fight to our full recovery.
