Waukegan Mayoral Debate Feb. 8th at WHS?
#31
Danno Wrote:The Waukegan Leadership Council did a fairly good job of disguising and presenting their Guzman Rally as a fair and unbiased debate.

I think the citizenship packet (stapled to the debate program) gave the game away! As a non-citizen I was interested in reading the packet. Perhaps the WLC were trying to convince the non-citizens in the audience that they can just pay their $565 and become instant citizens - in time to vote in the mayoral election. There is the minor point that one has to be a legal permanent resident first.....

GUZMAN IS INSANE and DANGEROUS. the crowd cheering this man on should be ashamed of themselves. if that is the best the spanish community has to offer god help them. i am sure there are real leaders in the spanish community that are embarassed that this is the man is claiming to represent them. those leaders need to come forward.

There are real leaders. I cannot begin to imagine why they put Mr. Guzman forward. The people who cheered are only wanting what he would give; no more towing, no more code enforcement or perceived police harassment. Besides that life will go on for them. Porfinio kept saying we are an immigrant community (and perhaps some would say a Sanctuary City). The majority of Waukegan's real needs was not even touched by Mr. Guzman. He has no experience. Period.

When will the News Sun cover the episode with Mr. Zavala and Mr. Guzman?

Another Gem: Mr. Guzman said that "when people came from Europe they live in garage, read your history. We got people living a week or two, [till they find somewhere to live], that is not wrong." "We got this guy who charged $750 for a bed in his basement. I work for people in Lake Forest and they got a bed in their basement. They [code] only do this to line their pockets."

"All you alderman are college educated, I bet I can do a better job then you." [He said this angrily and the crowd cheered.]

And his recurring line? Gimme six months [for the changes]

And then there was that wave of his.

They have been forwarded to the news agencies. More people need to do that. Or call. Why is this news being hidden?

We need to keep asking.
