Superintendent's contract extended
#1
At the Waukegan School Board Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 14th, by a vote of 6-1, the BOE extended the contract of Superintendent Donaldo Batsite until June 30, 2013. The vote was taken very late in the evening after the Board returned to Closed Session three quarters of the way through an extremely long agenda to discuss the matter. Following the Closed Session the Open Session continued and the superintendent's contract was ammended with the new ending date. Board Member Mark Hawn voted against the ammendment. It was stated that currently there is no salary increase attached to the extention, but that the superintendent would receive the same % of salary increase that teachers receive in the future IF salaries are increased during the contract. Additionally, there was an ammendent approved regarding Chief Academic Officer Mary Lamping's contract however no specific details were announced regarding the ammendment. The agenda for the meeting also listed a proposed ammending of the contract of Chief Financial officer Jules Gaudin, however prior to the vote, the CFO requested the item be pulled from the adenda stating he wanted to discuss if further.

The District has not released a Press Release on these changes, although if you go the the homepage www.wps60.org and look under the main news for the recap of the 9/14/10 Board Meeting you will find a line item or two near the end of the article.

If you didn't know to look for it, you'd never know it had happened.
On the Transparency Scale I'd give this a 1 (out of 10)
