Supporters of health care reform threatened by violence - WT Reader - 03-24-2010
There are more and more reports coming out of threats against Members of Congress who voted for Health Care Reform from right-wing extremists.
It is so bad that now some Members of Congress are asking for special protection, in fear of their lives (please watch vid this link, too, titled "Hoyer: Dems at risk due to threats").

It is one thing to debate a topic, it is another to make threats of violence. Of course, right-wing extremist talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh saying
"...it is time to defeat these bastards and wipe them out.." just stokes up the fires further of the haters in our society.

And Sarah Palin has just released a "HIT LIST" on Congress, in which she uses terms like "firing salvos"and lists those targeted on a map with a gun

How totally shameful and deplorable. Who ever thought that trying to be life-affirming for millions of Americans with health care reform would bring about such life-negating hatred??
It all is so un-American...and nothing "patriotic" about any of this. And such a threat to all decent, law-abiding Americans of good will.

Thanks for the post. I see the MSNBC story says that a senators brother had a gas line to his home line vandalized a day after a Tea Party website posted his address on their website with a suggestion that people send him their "thanks".
I have an elderly neighbor who is 100% convinced we have socialized medical now. He thinks he will have to wait months to be seen by a strange doctor.
There have been quite a few stirring up a hornets nest. Here's a good story .

These right-wing extremists are practicing the "Big Lie." There is no socialism to any of this, that is just a smokescreen to cover their extreme hatred and contempt for the rule of rule of law.
It is reprehensible, and law-abiding, decent Americans of compassoion and good will need to start saying so!

Talk about demonizing those with whom you do not agree ! :o
No one political perspective is totally "correct" or "pure." Differences can be discussed, but when "demonizing" is applied, then any rational, logical, meaningful discussion just cannot be achieved.
"Demonizing" those with whom we disagree is really a form of hatred. Seeing others not as human-beings with a common essential humanity, but rather
as evil and wicked.
Really works well, too, in getting some all riled up against those they "demonize." Of course, that is the operative modus operandi, the goal all along.

Now why don't you support your Obamacare position by printing some really good excerpts from that 2700 page bill. That is the only thing you people can really hang your hat on, isn't it?
